Spring equinox: reflections & musings
hello there,
the other night, I curated and performed in my 5th creation of Golden hour. an immersive sound meditation concert experience hosted on the wet deck at w philadelphia on lenape land.
For each golden hour, we intentionally gather on some of the most potent and auspicious days in nature to celebrate the changing of seasons within and around.
for this fifth golden hour activation, we gathered to celebrate the Spring Equinox, where Mother Nature shows us spring is right around the next corner as we balance an equal amount of light and dark.
each experience is unique + ephemeral in style. for this one, sylo created the set and setting with an ambient dj set as guests gathered and enjoyed connected conversation in inspiring space. as golden hour peaked and the sun began to set, sylo set the container with an opening greeting + guided intention setting.
from there, he handed it off to me and from offstage, this piece of music played lightly under me as I spoke a guided meditation/letter of reflection from my heart.
it was written to support what the nervous system needs to really (drop into) an experience. but also, to storytell what the spring equinox is in my druid culture. along with that, my own reflections and invitation on how to yield the power of this time of year for your own transformation.
an excerpt of that spring equinox love letter is below for your inspiration (along with a free sonic gift).
may all your dreams, wishes & desires blossom for you with grace & ease this season.
Tonight, on this Spring Equinox, may we honor the celebration of new life, new birth and regeneration. Yet this is also when we can feel the light coming, but that makes what’s left of the winter darkness that much more palpable.
As the cold hard soil begins to soften, the trees bud open, the sun shines longer and brighter each day to come, we are offered a gentle and poignant invitation from nature herself that it is time to transition. Transitions can be hard, our nervous system views change as unsafe. Yet, sometimes staying in what’s familiar (like our very own limiting beliefs) can be the very thing holding us back from our innate fulfillment.
What does this mean? We get to choose new paths, breathe new life into our beliefs, trust that although it may seem hard at first, we get to believe in ourselves and what we dream of. And when we feel resistance within, we can remember that nature herself is our greatest muse and source of inspiration, and lean back into her waters and soil for strength and courage.
“When we take time to honor the Spring Equinox in ceremony, we create a beautiful shield of protection for ourselves. So we can see the darkness but not become the darkness. To see it, to feel it but not be taken down. We are celebrating tonight that given long enough, any circumstance can and will change. While it may still seem cold and dark, life and light and warmth and blooming flowers within and around are right around the next corner.” (these reflections inspired by a recent share from @spacebymamamedicine)
this performance was the first time ever, that my reimagined Love + Longing Soundscape from The Sound Lab will be performed live. Alongside this, two original pieces that are available whenever you desire to listen on all streaming platforms.
